Service Project

Mormon Helping Hands. Woke up early to help the King make fried rice. I just helped chop spam, sausages and bacon. Cooked rice, chopped green onions and made scrambled eggs. Princess helped cracking the eggs. The Warrior 2 was his right hand man. The King needs this....Warrior 2 hands it to him. The King is pretty good about involving the Gooey Babes every time he has a "PROJECT" to do.

Our assignment today was to pick up rubbish at the Beach past Turtle Bay. I forgot the name of the beach. Anyway, refreshments were delish. We had cocoa rice with french bread, fruits, croissants/donuts and the King's fried rice. YUMM!

Exploring

Warrior 4 loves to explore! He discovered some dried leaves and was experimenting with his senses. The sense of feel, touch and taste. Bleh!

Look at what I can do while Mama hangs the clothes? Up. Down. Fall on my bum. Over my head. Again. Up. Down.

Today's Reading

Alma 7:23
And now I would that ye should be humble, and be submissive and gentle; easy to be entreated; full of patience and long-suffering; being temperate in all things; being diligent in keeping the commandments of God at all times; asking for whatsoever things ye stand in need, both spiritual and temporal; always returning thanks unto God for whatsoever things ye do receive.

got shoes!

Waiting at the parking lot. Agpaypayapay ni Warrior 4.

Saturday was a long day! We went to Hawaii Kai with the King because he had to go fix Robbie Gee's computer.

We drove around for 1.5 hours looking for Payless Shoestore which we didn't find. We ended up in Waikiki, Honolulu Zoo and UH Manoa. Hello! I got tired driving. Worried that the King would be done we headed back to Hawaii Kai. We parked and fed the GooBabes peanut butter and my homemade blueberry jam. Then we just hung out at the lobby/waiting area until 4:30/5:00 pm. After that we ate at a burger joint at the nearby shopping center. The burgers were huge and delish. I had a chocolate malt with the 1/2 of a terri burger I shared with Warrior 3. Good dinner.

After dinner...we went to Foodland in that same shopping center. They had a BEARD PAPA's Cream Puffs stand inside Foodland. Warrior 2 and I order mochi ice cream while the rest ordered their cream puffs. Warrior 4 was given a small bag filled with tiny and very colorful mochi balls. Too cute. I will later post pictures.

We stopped by Kahala Mall got Warrior 4 a pair of shoes at Kahala Kids. He broke them in at the center court in front of the Apple Store. The Gooey Goos were checking out the latest toy that came out. Yes, the iPad! I wonder if and when my grand kids read this post they'll be like..."ha ha the iPad? that is so old!" Like the typewriter with the ribbon is old and ancient for us now. Anyway...I've gone off to another tangent haven't I?

After Kahala Mall, off to the most awaited place and activity for the day/evening! D&B! David and Buster's was Warrior 1's pick for his birthday. Since we didn't do anything for him last week because of the conference and service project here it is! Happy Birthday Warrior 1!

Princess and Warrior 2 teamed up. While Warrior 1, 3, 4 teamed up with me. The King was a one man team. On his own. I don't know how long I had Warrior 4 on my team but he was later recruited by the King. That was nice. When Warrior 4 was getting tired/hungry /crying for mama... I took him back in my team. I let him drive the race cars. It's like being inside the King's work van! The steering wheel at least. It was a fun night. I really enjoyed watching Warrior 2 and Princess work together, finding games with credits, free tokens and tickets.

They collected or won over 2,000 tickets. They were able to get 2 caps, and a big dog for Warrior 4, a sippy cup, funky ring and CANDY! Just what we need!

***Basically, the King works hard and then we spend most if not all his hard earned money. It's all good since we only do it once in a while. =)

Oh, the Goo Babes were pretty good about waiting in the lobby. They were bored but didn't even complain.

All Things Work Together for Good

Okay, I was WRONG! The quote is not found in President Uchtdorf's talk. It was a talk by Elder James B. Martino Of the Seventy. Here is the link to his whole talk. CLICK HERE =)

Too Funny!

I have to stop asking God, "WHY?" Instead, I need to start asking,"WHAT DO I DO NOW?" I believe this is from one of President Uchtdorf's talk from conference. I could be wrong.

But anyway. I read this quote from a friend's profile on Facebook and commented that I should post this same thought on my blog. So, as I signed in...I noticed Erin posted something new on her blog. (I subscribe...to her blog because she is a crack up! Her blog is so like her. As I read her posts, I could picture her facial expressions and hear the sound of her voice and bubbly personality.)

Anyway.. I know I said that already huh?

So, on Erin's blog...she posted this commercial which I thought went well with the thought that I was just about to post. I should repeat the quote once again.

I HAVE TO STOP ASKING GOD, "WHY?" INSTEAD, I NEED TO START ASKING, "WHAT DO I DO NOW?"

So here is that video. Enjoy!

He is Awake!

Warrior 4 is awake! As soon as the King pulled out of the drive away..he woke up! Such a short nap! I only had time to fold one load of laundry.

Aww!

Warrior 4 is fed and bathed. I gave him to the King to brush his teeth. Went outside to hang a load of laundry. I came inside the house and found him fast asleep on the King's chest. Now the King is getting ready to go to work.

JOy

Time sure does fly. I've been saying that for the past couple of months, huh? Warrior 4 will be turning 1 in a couple of weeks. He is all "lovey lovey". He goes around hugging all of us. He is so loved. He makes us all smile. When someone is grumpy at home, he never fails to bring a smile out of that person.

He is getting better at walking! He is walking faster but is still very cautious not to fall. His feet turn outward . He loves to play with balls and balloons. He throws them and fetches them. His fine motor skill of picking up cereal with his thumb and pointer finger has been mastered.

He loves to play chase master with his brothers. Warrior 2 is very good at making him giggle and laugh.

He is so funny and smart. I'm trying for the 5th time to teach them to at least understand ILOCANO. I tried with the first 4 but I failed. So, I must try again. Hopefully I can be a better teacher this time around.

Here are a few phrases he understands:
aggisigis ti ngipen=brush your teeth
ayan na diay lapayag mo?=where's your ears?
Mabisin ka? Kayat mo ti mangan?= Are you hungry? Do you want to eat? (he'll respond by smacking his lips together and/or he'll put the back of his hand on his mouth.)
Kayat mo iti ubba?=DO you want to be picked up? (he'll put his arms up and say "ubba, mama")
Agidda!=Lie down (he'll put his head down on the pillow)
Rakep= hug
bisong=kiss
pikpik=rhythmic patting of the ubet, side of thigh or back.
palakpak=clap
Kayat mo iti uminom ti danum? Inka alaen diay cup mo. =Do you want to drink water? Go get your cup.
agkiremkirem ti mata= "beautiful"eyes

that is all i can remember for now.

His favorite movie right now is BOLT. These are also his favorite parts of the movie, especially the beginning and the "turn and pull" part. I don't know when it all started. OH, wait I took a short clip of him watching the movie. Okay, it all started in March. The dog just captured his attention.

He is also very attentive. When he hears jiggling keys or car doors shutting, he'll say "daddah! daddah!" He loves the KIng! He is very obedient to most if not all of his commands.

Well, this is all for now.

This is one of the very first times he watched Bolt + Warrior 2 making him laugh.

Our Responsibilities

After hearing the talks in General Conference...I've been doing a lot of thinking about how we are raising the GooBabes. Yes, we teach them to WORK, remember their manners, listen to mom and dad (I should correct that to say "listen to mom" since they pretty much listen to everything dad says), don't use your hands when eating, (except for mom when she is eating her stinky fish and "bagoong aramang" with tomatoes) the common courtesies--please and thank yous. I often wonder if they remember to be polite, do what is right, be honest, be helpful, be clean and show respect to their elders.

I don't know but they, the Goo Babes seem to do a lot of bickering over nothing, teasing, name calling, putting down each other, not sharing and being mean to each other. Is it just me? Is this normal? It makes me sad, mad, "irritz" when they are mean to each other. Have I forgotten how I behaved when I was a teen with my siblings? Did I drive my parents especially my mom this NUT SO? We are all okay with each other. We are still talking and we'd tell each other that we love each other. That is what we didn't do growing up. I hope the GooBabes will grow up to be close and tight with each other.

Well, my reading assignment in the BOM a couple days ago consisted of this scripture. It is a reminder of what I should be teaching the GOO BaBes and what my responsibilities are as a parent.

Mosiah 4:14-15
14 And ye will not suffer your children that they go hungry, or naked; neither will ye suffer that they transgress the laws of God, and fight and quarrel one with another, and serve the devil, who is the master of sin, or who is the evil spirit which hath been spoken of by our fathers, he being an enemy to all righteousness.
15 But ye will teach them to walk in the ways of truth and soberness; ye will teach them to love one another, and to serve one another.
We could all use a little more love and service at home. When we fight and argue we are making the devil happy. So, we can choose.

I am grateful for being a member of the church. We have all these resources to help us and our children to stay the course. In Primary we have the FAITH IN GOD. In Young Women we have PERSONAL PROGRESS and the Young Women theme to remind us that we are daughters of Heavenly Father. In Young Men, we have DUTY TO GOD and they also have their own theme-stating the purposes of the Aaronic Priesthood. They recite this during opening exercises.. I really hope that the Warriors are and will grow up giving proper respect to women, girls and children. We also have For The Strength of Youth to help them with keeping their values by following and living high standards for themselves.

I need to be a better example. I'm only human. I am not perfect. I make mistakes (I can't even speak proper English and often times what comes out of my mouth is not the same as what is on my mind) but I hope that they pick up on the things that are pleasing and good.

I need to be kinder to my children and not be so quick to ANGER, snap and yell when I'm stressed or for whatever the reason (whether it was caused by me, others or the monthly fluctuations of hormones--RED ALERT! RED ALERT!) I'm a being a scatter brain? Anyway...

The Goo Babes and I like to take short video clips of Warrior 4's little accomplishments using PHOTOBOOTH and one day as we were looking through all the old videos, we came across one with Warrior 2 and Warrior 4 playing and I was at yelling at Warrior 3 in the background. Princess pointed out "MOm, that's how you sound." My jaw dropped. My heart sank as I listened. I sounded so wicked and mean. I deleted it! I sounded like someone I know. Oh, no! I'm sorry. =(

Well, long story cut short. I, you, me, he, she, we basically just have to follow Jesus' examples. He is the greatest teacher! If we try to be like him...then we can't go wrong.

That' s a big responsibility.

Hanging Out!

Here are my GooBAbes! Hanging out at the parking lot after STake Conference...waiting for the line of cars to dwindle. So, here they are eating popcorn and mochi crunch on top a purple yoga mat.

Here we have Warrior 4 wearing his first long sleeves shirt (size 18 months but his neck is too fat that the very top button barely met the button hole ) and tie. His wardrobe was not complete. HE nO mOah one SHOeS! His brown corduroy pants stay smallkine too small on him. BUMBAI, we bUy!

Check out Warrior 2! Can you tell...he is the funny one?

Busy Weekend!

The service project at Kahuku High was a success! We had a great turnout. Princess and I ended up buying 12 more dozen doughnuts at Foodland. We also ended up cutting all the doughnuts in half. So yeah, we had a total of 31 dozens.

We finally made it back home at 10am unloaded the King's stuff and we just relaxed for a couple of hours until the next activity for the day. BYUH Grad and 50th birthday party at 1-4pm, Warrior 3 had a Kiddie birthday party to go to... and a 60th birthday party 4-8pm! We ended up not going to the last party... we stayed home and did some chores instead. I also baked a cake for Warrior 1. Priesthood meeting 4-6 pm. Adult Meeting 7-9:15 pm. Warrior 4 was fighting his nap. He was up for 6 hours straight. He and I finally made it to the meeting with the King looking kind of disappointed that we were a little late. We made it in time for the opening song!

The King was not able to attend any of the parties because he was busy setting up the mics, projector and he had to practice the organ. He was playing during the Priesthood meeting.

Anyway.... after the Adult Meeting we were able to sing Happy Birthday to Warrior 1 at 9:30pm ate cake and ice cream. Yum. Warrior 1 got clothes from Gramma and Grampa Goo, he got an assortment of Reese's peanut butter/chocolate. Not too long after that...we went to bed. Or I went to bed because I don't remember anything else after I put Warrior 4 down to sleep. I don't remember being or doing our family prayer.

I was awakened by Warrior 4 this morning at 2 and then took him out in the living room...gave him a bottle and we crashed on the floor. He woke me up again at 6 and at 7 the King is all suited up to go the the conference. Hello! Early! He had to set up ....was in charged of putting the hymns on the BIG screen ..I didn't know that of course until we were singing the hymns and there he was sitting next to me with his iPhone flipping/changing/sliding (whatever you want to call it) the slide for each verse of the songs. Pretty cool for me since I'm not tech savvy like him.

Oh, this was the very first time that we got good seats! We left to go to the CAC at 9:30 am. I guess we kind of surprised the King. He reminded me that conference starts at 10 not 10:05 am. He didn't want a repeat of what happened last night's Adult meeting. he he he. Yes, that is a big moment being half an hour early.

Well, great conference talks. We need to serve, share the gospel, show affection, tell them you love them, be the parent, make the kids earn things, don't just hand it to them (the King says this a lot so when the speaker was sharing this...the King was like "YUP!")

After the conference at 12:30 we finally made it home...the King made lunch using all the leftovers in the fridge. YIppee! It was delish!

After lunch we took our much needed naps. I crashed first, and then the King and Warrior 4 followed. The King put Warrior 4 to sleep. King didn't wake up until almost 8 o'clock. Poor thing..he works so hard and doesn't get much shut eye.

Anyway, I had a lot of help making dinner.. just shoyu chicken and lumpia. While the chicken was cooking Warrior 3 first offered to help in grating the potatoes and carrots, while Warrior 1 chopped the water chestnuts. Warrior 2 and Princess were playing with Warrior 4. Warrior 2 washed the green leaf lettuce to eat with the lumpia. Princess fed Warrior 4 some baby cereal while I rolled the lumpia.

Dishes are done. I am craving for something sweet. Read the BoM. I'm on my 17th day. Reading assignment for today is Mosiah 4- 8.

I should be sleeping because it is now morning. 12:08 am to be exact. I have to post pictures. I know I've rambled on. But just another day with the Gooey Goos. Nothing special or extra ordinary. Just things that we have to do.

It's Long Aloha Friday!

It's Aloha Friday! Went walking with the Plain Jane and Tita 96762 but was cut short because Warrior 4 was crying. It was raining and he didn't like the poncho blocking his view. After our walk we went to Foodland to buy pretzel rods to make these "buggahs" on the left. It's for Warrior 2's Bake Sale after school. They are raising money to go to the Water Park for their after graduation (6th grade graduation) activity. When we got home, I fed Kahana and Warrior 4 some lunch. After that, I put them to bed. And then... off to melting chocolate, dipping, sprinkling, stamping, pricing, tagging and cutting (the ribbons). These were easy to make but took longer than I anticipated. Packaging took forever! Anyway, I was able to drop these in time ...15 minutes before the bell rang. I had to wake up Warrior 4 and Kahana so we could drive over to the school. I was worried that they were not going to sell because I priced them for a dollar! When I got to the booth I saw baked things selling for 25 cents, 50 cents and 75 cents. There was only one other thing being sold for $1 plus, it was those huge muffins from Costco. In my mind, I was like...."OMGulay. I think I over priced these pretzel rods! Whatever...too late to change them now. Hopefully someone will buy them."

Drove back home...Kahana was picked up ..let Warrior 4 crawl and walk around outside of the house as we wait for Princess and the other 2 Warriors to come home. He is getting really good at walking. Especially when he is holding something in his hands. After all the Goo Babes made it home...we went to support the 6th graders. Well, the rods were all SOLD! Yey! Most of the baked goods were sold...we were able to buy some cookies and brownies. I wonder how much they raised this day.

Ooh, seen and heard! As we were waiting for Warrior 3 to buy his baked goods...the King in his work van passed and Warrior 4 in his stroller noticed and said.."DADAH. DADAH." Too cute!

We go home and my mess greets the kids UGH! Ribbons! Stamps! Inks and markers clutter the kitchen table.

We went to town later this evening to go to Costco and purchase stuff for tomorrow's service project at the high school. 4 pineapples, 1-10 lb box of oranges , 6 cantaloupes, 4 honey dews, 4 lbs of strawberries, and 2 containers of red grapes.

We then went to Denny's for dinner. The workers sang Happy Birthday to Warrior 1 and his order was free! Zippy's is still better though.

One more thing. Warrior 4 was so good sitting in his high chair.

HOME AT LAST!

Princess and moih had to wash, peel and chop all those fruits. We made five pans total! With the King and his keys...we later took those at the chapel since we didn't have room in our fridge. The King was loading his ladders, sound system, paper goods and other things in his truck while we were chopping. We have to wake up early tomorrow for the service project. The King will pick up 19 DOZEN donuts at Foodland at 6 am and then leave for the service project tomorrow at 6:30 am.

GOONIGHT!

Seen and Heard

I had to make bread sticks this evening. Going to a friend's house for dinner and I was too lazy to roll the dough out and shape them into sticks. SO, I just made them into small rolls.

Warrior 3 saw what I did and this is what he had to say.
"Mom! Those are not breadsticks! Those are bread balls!"

ha ha you are right Warrior 3!

My Little Chef

Warrior 3 has been very helpful in the kitchen. He has made dessert for us a couple of times. He made chocolate pudding one evening and jello the next evening. Last night he helped make taco bowls. We placed the flour tortillas in the muffin pans and toasted them in the oven until crunchy. =) Scooped beans at the bottom, then the meat, followed by lettuce, tomatoes and then the cheese. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
No exact bowl looked the same.

Warrior 3 made everyone a taco bowl.
The final product.

Proud chef!

Dinner is served! These two are for Daddy. The King!

Don't forget the dessert. Pineapple dipped in chocolate! Yumm!

Blessings!

This is too funny! I started reading the Book of Mormon the end of last month so I can pass off the value project for VIRTUE. Yes, I'm working on my PERSONAL PROGRESS with Princess. Cool huh? Anyway, back to reading. I'm doing it online through

http://www.readthescriptures.com I like it because I get a reminder in my email and the reading assignment for the day is attached. After the reading assignment on Saturday, this particular quote was shared.

I really like this quote because it is a good reminder that 10 percent of our income is not ours. So, we shouldn't have to think twice about what we need to do with it. We are able to work because He has given us life, knowledge, strength, talents and everything else you can think of that makes us do what we are able to do.

Well, after dinner tonight Auntie P and Uncle M came ring-a- ding-dinging our doorbell and this is what they brought! What can I say? We are truly blessed. Thank you! Arigats! Salamat! Mahalo. I'm taking note of these things so the Goo Babes and future Goo Babes will remember that when we pay our tithing and fast offering we will be blessed. Only the King works full time and there is always more than enough food for us to consume. Sometimes I think ....too much...we are getting too fat. =)

Oh, here is the quote.

"...pay your tithes and offerings out of honesty and integrity because they are God's rightful due...Paying tithing is not a token gift we are somehow charitably bestowing upon God. Paying tithing is discharging a debt."--Jeffrey R. Holland, "Like a Watered Garden," Ensign, Nov. 2001, 33

"EYE" freeze

At the dinner table. We were talking about consuming something really cold too fast...and we'll get brain freeze. Well, Warrior 3 disagreed. He said that he doesn't get brain freeze...instead he gets "eye" freeze. bwah ha ha ha ha!

Standing All Alone Already!

For the last two weeks, Warrior 4 has gotten more and more brave standing all alone. He has made tremendous progress. He has taken the initiative of walking from the tv to the couch without anyone coaching or assisting him.

In the kitchen, he'll stand up and hang on to the cupboards and once he is balanced he'll walk over to the oven or toward the sink. It is so fun and exciting watching him learn to walk. =) It makes all of us happy! It kind of reminded me when I was learning how to swim. Swim to the wall and then rest. Swim again to the other wall and rest. He is growing so fast!

Physical

At the NOrth Shore Clinic waiting for Princess to finish. She had to get her physical for cheerleading. Yes, she is trying out for next school year. So, here we all are after school doing homework and napping. Just another day at the Gooey Goos.

Super Citizen!

Waiting for Warrior 2 to get called.
Warrior 4 is so cute trying to put his arms around Little K as I said, "take a picture."

Yehey! Warrior 2's Day! CONGRATULATIONS! I hope you enjoyed your GUMMIS!

After Conference ...

After listening to the wonderful messages from our church leaders...we head to HUKILAU BEACH to unwind. It was a gusty day and the waves were rough. Warrior 4 and I were cold! The older GooBabes still went in the water. Warrior 4 and I stayed on the sand.
Warrior 1 and 3 dug themselves a "windbreaker". Yes, a hole. A pit. Abot. It wasn't deep enough for their whole body to fit.
Warrior 1's windbreaker was deeper but his butt was to big to fit in the narrowing pit.
Watching Warrior 1 and Warrior 4 interact.....Wow! They have a 14 year age gap. Warrior 1 loves his brother.
Warrior 1 dug out a crab's hole. That's a first. It was a big white crab. As big as Warrior 4's fist. Now, that is big compared to the grape size crabs we usually see scurrying at the beach. Warrior 1 jumped as the crab tried to get away.
Walking home from the beach. Princess carried her brother. As we were approaching the house, Princess says to Warrior 4..."You are getting heavy!"

Much Love

We've been home from the beach for over an hour and the King walks in the door. He must have gone to a meeting at church, because of the way he is dressed. Anyway, Warrior 4 walks toward him (he is still learning to walk ...we are up to 5 steps now) and gives him a HUG. Warrior 4 was so tired....as soon as the King placed him in his arms he just sat there ....with two fingers massaging his gums, he falls asleep.
We don't like him sucking on his thumbs/fingers since he discovered his hands' phalanges. So, since the beginning we've always told him "no, no sucking thumbs." It's funny that he doesn't. Well, now and then he'll stick his fingers in his mouth to gnaw on...massage his gums.
So, peaceful. MAKES ME WANT TO GO TO SLEEP.
