3rd grade diva!

Three years ago, this is how our  Kauai Princess looked.  She was our 3rd grade diva back then.   She looked so "manini".  You can still she her gaps between her teefs.  =) They performed a fun 70s number.  Her class rocked!  How time flies.  berry berry past.  The children grow very fast indeed.  ayna!  correct ka diyan.  She'll be in 7th grade this coming fall.  She started wearing my shoes last year.   But this year her feet became magically giganticus dakkelus.   (Gigantic and dakkel)  Dakkel is an Ilokano word meaning big.   So, we no longer share shoes.
She's been digging through my closet for clothes to wear, though.  At least she still thinks mommy's clothes are cool to wear.   Let's see how long that will last.   I must admit, she looks better in them than me.   That means I am getting older and getting hotter.  Ha!!!  you didn't think I'd go there.  I want to be one hot yoga mama.  =)  Funny.  Ha. Ha.

did better

I did  a lot better Thursday than Wednesday.  NO sweets and I stopped eating at 6pm!  i need to drink more water though.    Hope to do it today.
School is almost out.  We are excited.  We have 2 graduates this year.  Hawaiian Warrior is graduating from kindie-gahten and Princess of Kauai is graduating from 6th grade.  whoopi!  Next week will be a busy week.  Monday is  awards assembly, Tuesday is Kindie graduation and Wednesday is 6th grade grad.  Right after graduation the 6th graders will end their year with a splash.  A trip to the Hawaiian Water Adventure Park.   Wow, lawlaw!  Times have changed.   Elementary kids going to expensive fieldtrips.  Camp Erdman and Big Island field trips are done.
Warrior 2 will have to fund raise this summer to pay for his (Camp Timberline and overnighter on the USS Missouri) field trips next school year.
Anyway, didn't go walking with Plain Jane and Tita 96... this morning.  I had a small kine homework to do.    NO sweat points for me today. =(
I got to talk to Glet.  It's always nice talking to you sis.   uray no nakapul-lat ni Baby  ta soosum.

Asukar Withdrawals

Today went great!  Dropped the kids to school, walked around the block once, went home to hang my laundry and then met up with my walking co-madres  (Plain Jane and Tita 96... ) and their chikitas for a good hour.  That felt good....   I'm stuck!  I'm having a mental block right now.  Fast forward to ...... oh yeah! out of the ground from burying my kitchen scraps comes a cluster of little papaya trees which I've ignored for quite sometime now.  Today, I decided that they needed to be split up.   They were about 2-3 ft tall already.   They were fighting for their personal space to grow.  So, i was digging and digging until I successfully dug 'em out.  ha!  proud of myself.    I had two Avocado trees growing well but my Honeybuns had to dig it out because  it was too close to the house.....afraid that the roots will ruin the foundation of this old house we are renting from.  I'll spare all the details.
Anyway, going  back to my why I'm writing.  It's that time again.   I was craving a lot of sweets all of last week and I indulged and engulfed a whole thing of lemon bars, brownies, vanilla ice cream with mixed berries, banana splits, fudge popsicles and chocolate chip cookies.  I hate to admit it but I even had several squares of TripleChocolateChip Ghiraldeli Brownies for .... BREAKFAST!   Brownies for Breakfast!   That's like drinking soda first thing in the morning!  ( I can say that because i could care less about soda.)   Way too much.  I need to stop baking and buying these things.   aaaaaaaaaaagggggggggggghhhhhhhh!
Today, I thought of being good to my body.  I had a banana.  Green Salad sprinkled with spicy chips and drizzled catalina dressing over it.  That was good...but then comes 1 o'clock  I started craving for you know what.   I tried to suppress my craving by eating watermelon but that didn't do anything.   I couldn't resist so I had a  shortbread cookie with macadamia nuts dipped in white chocolate from cookie korner.  I didn't only eat 1 but 2.   Around 4 pm, I was getting hungry again so started making dinner (made tuna cakes) and ate around 4:50 pm.  Whew!  I was safe but then 6 o'clock came and I was getting  restless and jittery ....i  need my sugar!  Went in the pantry to look for cake mix and wanted my sugar!   I didn't make the cake but somebody else did.  My 9 year old Fijian Warrior  made  the cake for me.   (he loves his sweets  just like me)  I know.  I need to be a better example for my kids.  I just need to try harder.
That was today.  Tomorrow is another day.  I hope  I can make better choices  tomorrow.

Guam Trip

Trying to set up the tent without all the poles.  " Hafa Dut?  Hafa, it's not working nai?"

The chikitings  hanging out with Mama.

This is a nice picture of the girls right before eating out at Capricciosa.  Not sure if that's how it's spelled.

Here we have hermit crabs entertaining the kids while setting up camp.  Pretty amazing "duk duks".

Group shots!

                                                       The Princess and the Queen

BulaVinaka and Aloha!

The kids did great!  Everyone looked amazing in their costumes.  Grandma was in tears watching the Queen, the Princess of Kauai and the Kupuna's  perform.  Luckily, honeybuns had some paper towel.  Sniff!   Grandma wipes the tears away.  Smiles and Sniffs!   She was just impressed with the school's whole production.   Go Laie!

Former First Lady Imelda Marcos!

Here is the picture of Mama and First Lady Imelda.  Man, she is one tall  lady.  We just happened to stop by this mall to eat.  (Can't remember the name of it now)  After lunch, a few of us wanted to go look around the mall.  The men, the boys and little kids were headed down to go back to the van when our driver informed us of the commotion down stairs.  He said "Adda ni Imelda Marcos."  So we thought it would be cool to see her.  There were people surrounding her from a distance as if the first lady had a bubble or shield.   Not us.  No shame.  Specially Mama, notice where she placed her arms.  Hellow!  "Take picture!  Take picture! " says Mama  with her Flip accent. Mrs. Marcos consented.   We were lucky.  Soon after that, the other people saw that it was okay to be near the former First Lady and they slowly swarmed in but then her body guards in black came to her rescue.  That was the hightlight of our day.

Summer 2007!

Almost a year ago today the Goo Babes and I got to spend sometime with my family last year from June to August. We went all over the Philippines.  From Baguio to Banaue Rice Terraces to Bolinao and Manila.  We even got to see Imelda Marcos.  I'll post her picture with Mama later so you know I'm not joking!   We ate all kinds of food.   Well, at least I did thus the 5 inches gain around the belly and the 10-15 pound
 gain within.

Anyway, it was all worth it but I am still trying to lose them 10 lbs!
The kids were able to spend time with all the cousins.  They laughed. They danced.  They sang songs.  They cried. They ate together in mama's little table and chairs.  They got in trouble together.   We had lots of "noise pollution" in the air.    The adults had their moments as well.   Glet was expecting.  She was irritable, moody and guess what...she still managed to go shopping man.   Sige.  pasyar dayta.  Pasyar.  Gallivanting all over the place.

We were fortunate enough to spend a good 2 weeks in Guam.  Thanks to OnePass Miles from the Ramos's and from Mama and Papa.  We went hiking down at 200 Steps and Haputo  Beach.  A bunch of us went hiking will all the kids including the little ones.  Hawaiian Warrior did great going down 200 Steps with some assistance.  We even got to see some cool looking spiders hanging out in their spider webs.  We saw several shimmering blue/green beetles...it was just amazing.  Going back up however, was another story.   It was a pretty steep!  With 4o lb. Warrior on my back, man I was hanging!  My heart rate was just racing and I started to feel light headed and lactic acid was kicking in my quads and my face felt bloody  red.  I haven't felt that way in a long time.  I was out of shape man.  I was no longer a spring chicken!  pak! pak! pak!  (that would be cluck! cluck! cluck! in English)   That was some experience alright.   For the second hike, I decided to leave Warrior home with Mama and Papa.   The second hike was a lot easier than the first.  Shucks!  That's okay, he was happy.

Spring Mini Olympics !

Princess of Kauai  balancing on her forearms.  That's a cool pose Miss.  =)  I wish mommy can do that.

China Man's Hat!

Great day at the beach today!  As usual the Goo Babes are  acting goofy.  We got to see sea urchins, hermit crabs, sea weeds and sea snails. It was cool!  This is my favorite picture.  I dig it!
