Prutas I miss

Prutas (fruits) I miss. I was reading the newspaper and came across an article that had a picture of star apples. Wow. I wanted some. Too bad I couldn't go in the back yard and just pick from an invisible starfruit tree. Hellurh! Then I started reminiscing about the past growing up in the Philippines. We didn't have much. We didn't have nice things. We didn't have a car but had Papang's jeep. We walked to school and back. We rode the tricycles, jeepneys and mini buses. OOOH, don't forget the Kalesa or horse drawn carriage and the carabao (water buffalo) dragging the kariton (cart). Well, going back to the fruits I miss... here they are! yummy!
"LANGKA" OR Jackfruit
"CHEESA" or Egg Fruit
"GUAYABANO" or Soursop
"CAIMITO" or Star Apple
"LANZONES"
"MANGA" or Native Mango
"RAMBUTAN"

http://www.tropicalfruitnursery.com/sapodilla/pages/Alano-Sapodilla.htm"CHICO"
"SARGUELAS"
"BALIMBING"
"MAKOPA"
"ATIS"
"UNAS" or Sugar Cane
"KAMANTIRIS"
"SALAMAGI" or Tamarind
"CASOY" Cashew oh so juicy.

"LUMBOY" Look like grapes. I remember when Manang Charisse, moih and I were 4 and 5 years old, Inang Baket (great- grandma) climbing our Lumboy tree in the back yard. She climbed that tree and she shook it with all her might and the fruits would just drop like rain on the ground, on our backs, shoulders, arms and heads.
"ARAY!" "Keep picking! There are lots!" After picking them up, we'd wash 'em and sprinkle sea salt, cover the container and we'd shake the container until the fruits became all covered with salt.
