Kumusta my pamilya? Check this out! After all these years... I finally told the kids what the heck a rock was doing in my shower. So, I shared my experience with the Goo Babes growing up about using the "lid-lid" (Noun=Bato or rock. River rock. Verb= to scrub "aglid-lid") I think. I'm not a linguist. That the "lid-lid" is what we used to scrub "kab-kab" (dirt, dead cells/skin) off our bodies. We were always reminded by Inang Baket (my greatgrandma) to scrub our bodies with this river rock each time we took a bath. I guess because Philippines is so dusty and we got down and dirty.. we HAD to scrub. It made our skin soft. It prevented our heels from cracking. There was no need to go and pay someone to shave off the soles of your feet when you can save money and do it yourself using the rock everyday. (Although, it's nice to get pampered by someone once in a while.) We searched for them in the river like a treasure. It was all natural, organically made no synthetic chemicals or materials used to create this rock and it didn't cost us a "CENTIMO". We didn't need fancy colorful scrubbers which just created lots of bubbles (well, bubbles are fun). These scrubbers sometimes didn't get rid of dirt embedded into your skin and which you had to replace ever so often.
I am now in America but I still like my "lid-lid". This river rock is from Manaoag River. Mama Tel found it for me when we were there a year and a half ago. Hey, it's imported rock! Lifetime guarantee. =) Garantisado!
Anyway, so Sunday as we were sitting down at Sacrament meeting in church, I noticed something on Princess' lower legs. So, I grabbed her leg to have a closer look and sure enough...it was full of strawberries! Her legs were RAW! "ARAY!!!" (OUCH!) I was mouthing..."what did you do?" She replied and whispered, "I used the rock." Well, Saturday night she decided to try it out but she scrubbed so hard that it scrapped some of her skin and also shaved some hair off her legs. I guess I failed to tell them NOT to scrub too hard. =( Her legs look a lot better now, though. Scabby but.....no more painful strawberries. That is the story of our own Princess and the Rock!
The End!
*The Princess was asleep when I took the picture of her legs so, I was not able to capture all her scabs.
